As it Rains

“The sky breaking and falling onto a desert plane”
As it Rains is inspired by the miniature paintings of Cristoforo de Predis. The noughts and crosses collected around the collar of the vessel are the shreds of broken sky that I imagine falling onto the ceramic below.
The green glaze was developed from a 17th century roof tile glaze recipe found in the Watts Gallery archive, and belonged to the gallery founder, to Mary Watts.
